There came a point in time when I just got tired of rockin’ the Swoosh, Trefoil, Jumpman and whatever fu*#kin corporate logo you can plaster on the sidewall of a sneaker. Don’t get me wrong; I’ll always love the classic silhouette of the Jordan I, New Balance 999 and Gazelle, but in all honesty, I think I got tired of being awarded too many compliments from what seems to be mostly guys. C’mon dude-bros! My girl rarely hands out praise like that – man up! In all fairness though, I still get geeked on an ill pair of sneakers till this day, it’s just now that I’m a little older my tastes have changed.

When I saw the Clae Russell for the first time it immediately warranted my attention. Nothing crazy immediately jumps out at you, no Willy Wonka colorway or extreme overuse of assorted materials – just a straight leather mid-top in premium leather, soft leather inner lining and a custom molded footbed. I rarely buy two pairs of the same shoe nowadays, but for the Russell I had to cop it twice, so once I beat the dog-shit out of the first pair, I’d have one waiting in the wings. To sum it up, the Clae Russell (for me at least) is the new standard. I may pick up one or two pairs of Nikes or some other BS within the year, but for the most part I’m going to be wearing the Claes till the soles fall off!__

i gotta agree.

it was the clean lines & simplicity of the Russell that immediately jumped out at me. overall feel was a bit more sophisticated than the kaleidoscopic, Warholian colorways that had dominated 06 & 07. no knock of course, but  sometimes  you want a fly pair of kicks that your dad won’t notice & clown, and won’t do all kinds retarded shit when the black light comes on in the club. i got em in Umber and they jive with every tie in my closet.

so, almost 2 years ago, i got the bright idea that i wanted to start a group.

something fun. differentish. (nothing new under the sun in full effect, of course.)

not a whole lot of deep meaning and whatever, just mad accessible, with solid hip hop foundations and a willingness to just bug out over whatever type shit i created.

i found two willing participants to join up and see what we could pull off with this idea.

i actually be rappin this time around.

we have some shit im sure will be sure shots, and a few i’m not so sure of.

i believe in this little outfit, and i think at one point, the fellas in the group did too… but you know, i take my sweet time with my own projects, so… i’m sure the fire has grown dim. niggas was hype last year. but.

i gotta finish that shit. ’cause… it needs to be done. i’m posting this ’cause i have a way of shaming myself into productivity. i worked on a track tonight and a few others over the weekend. it’s coming together slowly. i’m hoping the we can all get together at some point, work out some hooks, some concepts, audition some beats and see what’s good on getting a stack of songs together.

after that, who knows.
