progress report.

moving is plodding along not-so-swimmingly, but alas, it is getting done- so i won’t complain.

i’m one trigger finger away from copping this before the day is out. point blank, i absolutely need a new monitor for my desktop ( i donated my gargantuan 19″ CRT to my brother’s bedroom setup in a fit of kindness) and this just about fits the bill perfectly. it’s not very expensive considering. it’s a widescreen (great for mixing) it has a great max resolution and it’s a flatty lcd so it’s footprint is minimal.

considering the work i have to complete by jan 1, it’s kind of a necessary evil. i just have to compensate with crazy overtime hours. starting tonight, hopefully.

right now my biggest focus is getting a rack of beats done. i can decide what will go where later– i just don’t have any substantial material fresher than probably june or july of ‘07, and while there’s plenty of that, i’ve never been the type of creative person to dwell on past creations. i like to keep it moving. that’s why if i don’t finish a track in one sitting, you may as well chalk it and tag it. sucks but that’s what’s gotten me this far. i keep everything though, just in case.

but yeah, like i was saying. i have got to hit the pavement running. luckily they just built a vinyl shop about 3 blocks from my new home, which will be good for early saturday runs for fresh inspiration. speaking of which… anybody in the mood for passing off gifts to the kid? i need this, vinyl OR import will do just fine–

until i get the home studio in working fashion, order of the day continues to be to get people interested in what i’m doing. it’s weird from a producer’s standpoint as opposed to an artists, ’cause we’re not out there singing dancing and looking pretty. we labrat all day, infuse our minds will technical jargon and buttons and switches, compress and equalize, make it sound good and stay (for the most part) invisible to the naked (read: consumer) eye.

i need to start hitting the streets aka the industry events and pass out cards.

pretty soon, i’m gonna head down to DC and get my promo shots done. get cute’d up and vogue for the camera, solidify the presence and start making connects that i can back up with good music. hopefully people will start putting 2 & 2 together and we can start shakin hands over business deals.
